The ReadyLIFT Off Road Suspension / Maxxis Tire / GearUp2Go.com Pro2 race team proved once again this is the team to beat in 2012! As the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series returned to its Southern California roots for the annual “racing under the lights” event at Glen Helen Raceway, the fans and racers were anxious for some racing action! With daytime temps surpassing the century mark the days were spent tuning and tweaking in the pits rather than mixing it up on the track. Marty Hart’s race team put in long days and nights of work after several drivetrain failures which proved to provide no explanation but plenty of determination by the entire team to get Marty’s Pro2 into race form.
After the qualifying inversion Marty “the Hart Attack” Hart found himself on the front row starting grid next to rookie Pro 2 sensation Patrick Clark. Points contenders Rob MacCachren and Brian Deegan were positioned in rows two and three, each looking to take the points lead away from Hart. There was little doubt this race was going to be good and one where every position meant valuable championship points.
Under the cool moonlit night and a completely packed grandstands full of cheering fans, the ReadyLIFT Off Road Suspension Toyota Tundra Pace Truck pulled off and the green flag was waved. The roar of eighteen 800 horsepower Pro2 race trucks exploded into a thunderous scream of power! The veteran Hart wasted no time getting around pole sitter Clark. Exiting turn two and into the rhythm section, Hart grabbed the lead and started running his own lines while the field behind him began the ballet of fender banging carnage.
With every lap that was written off it was Hart showing absolute dominance over the class. Clark made several attempts to wrestle the lead away, sticking a nose in here and trying a slide job there. But no attempt was successful as Hart kept this cool and the throttle matted to the floorboard. After 18 laps of racing the checkered flag waved and it would be Marty Hart who would not only be credited with the win, but leading every single lap of the race and setting fast lap of the race! It takes a seasoned veteran in a superbly set up truck to be able to dominate the toughest class in off road racing! This win marks Marty’s third win of the season and an incredible accomplishment!
Rounds 11 & 12 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series will be at the brand new track in Reno, Nevada. This new track is said to be built like the once popular Chula Vista “quarry” track which means it will be incredibly exciting! Be sure to mark your calendars to attend on August 25 and 26th. You can also catch all of the racing action on CBS, CBS Sports, Speed and MavTV.
