Re: Team ReadyLift Racing Doubles-Up On Podium Appearances In Primm

For Immediate Release:
When the Championship Off Road Racing (CORR) event two rolled into Primm, Nevada there was only one sure bet. That was that Rob Naughton and Team ReadyLift Racing came locked and loaded to win. Fresh off a 2nd place podium finish at the CORR opener in Pomona, Rob and his team were feeling really good about putting the #54 ReadyLift Suspension/Maxxis Tire Ford on the super fast track at Primm, and even better about winning!

The weekend of May 17-18 would become the scene of some incredible off road racing. And as we’ve become used to, the Pro Lite class would deliver some of the best racing of the entire weekend! The return of five-time Pro Lite Champion Jeff Kincaid has upped the excitement ante this year and finally the 8,000+ fans in attendance were rewarded with the opportunity to see the former Champion battle the reigning Champion!

“I have said it over and over again leading up to this season. The fans are going to be in for some awesome racing this year with the current Pro Lite talent and former Pro Lite talent coming together. It’s going to be epic!” say’s Naughton.

In Friday’s qualifying for Saturday’s main event Rob piloted the ReadyLift/Maxxis #54 Ford to a 3rd place qualifying spot with Kincaid earning a pole position. CORR Officials decided to throw a curve ball into the line up for Saturday by drawing a number, which was eight, and then inverting the front of the field. The result was a display of some crafty racing talent as Naughton and the other top qualifiers had to muscle their way through the front runners from mid-pack. As the laps began to wind down the battle for the lead which Kincaid had managed to earn, included both Rob Naughton and Rodrigo Ampudia who both wanted nothing more than to catch Kincaid before the checkered flags fell.

It didn’t take long for Rob to dispatch Rodrigo who was running second to Kincaid. Then Naughton set his sights on catching Kincaid. The last four laps of the race were intense as Naughton put the spurs heavy into the #54 ReadyLift/Maxxis Ford. Twice Rob was seen rim-riding the long and flat final turn wall! In the final lap and the final turn, Naughton finally got side-by-side with Kincaid, but couldn’t hold the position and had to settle for yet another second place finish this year.

Second place is good. But winning is better. And Rob knows he needed to do better in order to win in this class of drivers.

As the burning 100+ degree temperature dispersing sun rose over the desert course on Sunday, Rob’s demeanor couldn’t have been any more determined to win. In the morning qualifying session Rob earned yet another pole by setting fast time. And like Saturday, CORR inverted the field by eight which put Rob on the fourth row for the start of Sunday’s race. Joining him mid-pack was Kincaid as well as a cast of others including Hord and Hart.

When the green flag fell it only took Rob one lap to saw on the wheel and pedal his way up to fourth place. With Hord leading the high-octane train through the course in the early laps, the identity of the race would soon become clear. Naughton, Ampudia and Kincaid blasted their way to the front and battled sometimes three wide. Feeling the pressure, Rob stepped up his game and throttled the ReadyLift Suspension/Maxxis Tire Ford to the front with Rodrigo pushing hard to take it away. But as we have seen so many times before, the field might as well get used to seeing the mud flaps of the #54 Ford. Neither Ampudia nor Kincaid could muster a challenge for the determined (and fast!) Naughton who took his first win of the 2008 season!

Before taking his top position on the winner’s podium, Naughton told the SPEED Channel viewers, “Five races without a win was way too many.  We gave away two wins in both round one and two in Pomona, so it feels great to get back on the top spot on the podium where we belong. The ReadyLift racing team and crew have worked incredibly hard the last few months and I wanted to win one for them, win one for the team. Without them, I have nothing.”
